Howard Dickinson, currently a director in the ATO's superannuation division, is set to depart the tax office on 10 November.

Mr Dickinson has been with the ATO since 1983, and in the superannuation division since 2007.

He currently oversees the SMSF client experience at the tax office, which includes the support and oversight of SMSF administration and regulation.

The ATO will not comment on his departure.

Mr Dickinson is a regular on the speaking circuit for the SMSF sector, and a well-known public face of the ATO’s superannuation division.

In his final presentation to the SMSF sector at yesterday's SMSF Summit in Adelaide, Mr Dickinson made an impassioned plea to professionals to continue to "work to protect the integrity of the SMSF sector," in an effort to avoid excessive regulation and compliance activity.
