Phil Creswell has now been appointed as head of professional standards with Count Financial, leaving his previous role as head of compliance and professional standards at IOOF.

Count Financial, now owned by ASX-listed CountPlus Limited, will welcome Mr Creswell to the group on 14 April.

The chartered accountant was previously a member of the Financial Planning Advisory Committee to the Board of the Financial Ombudsman Service, and the governor and secretary of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Earlier in his career, Mr Creswell was a senior accountant in audit at PwC, before becoming a senior manager in audit at KPMG.

His appointment will see him join forces with CountPlus chief executive Matthew Rowe once again, with the pair involved in writing the Financial Planning Association of Australia’s first code of ethics and professional standards.

Mr Rowe said Mr Creswell’s wealth of experience and passion for financial advice fit the Count “family photograph”.

“Phil has been a passionate advocate for quality financial advice and brings a wealth of experience and technical skills, but importantly, he has strong people skills,” Mr Rowe said.

“This is important as we build our team and our culture around our values as an organisation.

“Phil is someone that brings gravitas to this mission-critical role.”
