Deloitte has announced the internal appointment of a new audit and assurance leader.

Joanne Gorton has now been appointed as managing partner of Deloitte’s audit and assurance division.
Ms Gorton, who has been with Deloitte since 2016 and was previously head of audit at the firm, will also now join its national executive team.
Before joining Deloitte, Ms Gorton spent 19 years at rival big four firm PwC.
She takes over from Jamie Gatt, who has now moved into a new role as Asia-Pacific leader of Deloitte’s audit and assurance financial services business.
Deloitte chief executive Richard Deutsch said Ms Gorton’s “exceptional dedication” to evolving the firm’s approach to audit quality and financial reporting puts her in good stead to navigate the changing regulatory and market expectations.
“Joanne is an experienced auditor and trusted adviser to boards and senior executives and is very well respected by her clients and within Deloitte,” Mr Deutsch said.
“She has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to quality and to exceptional client service. Her depth of experience allows Joanne to deliver honest, transparent and valuable insights.
“Joanne has a great track record as an auditor working with high-profile ASX 100 companies. Joanne is an exceptional leader and I am confident she will continue to drive positive change as we embrace innovation, new technologies and evolving regulatory, societal and market expectations.”
Mr Gorton also welcomed her appointment and affirmed her commitment to continue leading the firm’s audit transformation.
