Accounting and advisory firm William Buck has appointed Michael Rees Evans to lead the firm’s innovation and talent development strategies.
Mr Rees Evans trained as a chartered accountant and worked as a managing consultant before moving into financial advice in 2022.
Building on the firm’s strong reputation for internal development and education, Mr Rees Evans will help drive William Buck’s future capabilities in financial project management.
Head of William Buck wealth advisory, Scott Girdlestone, said the appointment would build on developing internal talent since the launch of the firm’s Training Academy three years ago.
“With his background in management consulting together with a passion for continuous improvement, Michael will bring energy and different strategic thinking to our business,” he said.
The appointment was seen as a “logical next step” for the firm and Mr Rees Evans, said Mr Scott, with their shared focus on supporting clients, holistic financial advice and project management.
“To achieve results for our clients we need to look at the whole situation and not just the investments, which are only half the strategy,” Mr Scott said.
“It’s not easy and requires highly skilled individuals. Michael shares our all-inclusive view on financial management which is a rare find.”
Mr Rees Evans said the move to William Buck would allow him to focus on his passions of educating and mentoring.
“William Buck has an immensely talented team. I’m excited to immerse myself in the business and work with their advisors to help these high performers reach their full potential,” he said.
The William Buck Group currently manages over $4 billion worth of investments. This appointment represents another step in the firm’s strategic goal of being able to support the middle market through a complete suite of quality professional services.
