Audit, accounting and tax firm PKF has expanded into North Queensland by opening an office in Townsville’s CBD.

The firm said that audit and assurance partner Tim Follett would be leading the additional office after recently relocating from Brisbane.
Mr Follett said he was looking forward to working out of Townsville after regular visits to service clients in the north of the state.
“Townsville is a vibrant, growing business community,” said Mr Follett. “I’ve built strong relationships with a number of local businesses here over many recent years, Dr Daryl Holmes founder of 1300Smiles has been a great supporter and I’ve been blessed to be appointed as the auditor of Cowboys Leagues and Football Club and more.
“Living and working locally in Townsville comes as a relief after many years of frequent travel to the region.”
PKF said that the establishment of the Townsville office strengthened the firm’s claim to be one of the fastest-growing mid-tiers.
The Townsville move comes after PKF’s Brisbane office acquired a local firm, PT Partners, last year. That contributed to PKF’s 30 per cent increase in personnel and took it to $15 million in fees.
PKF Brisbane’s managing partner Liam Murphy said the Townsville office was a reflection of North Queensland’s importance as a market.
“We see Townsville and North Queensland more broadly as a critical market for PKF,” said Mr Murphy.
“The options for audit services are incredibly limited in Townsville in particular, so it makes sense for Tim to be based there full time.
“Over time we hope to see more clients being served locally in North Queensland, whilst still having access to specialists from throughout the PKF network.”
PKF is one of Australia’s fastest-growing accounting networks with offices in 13 locations, 95 partners and over 750 staff.
