Pitcher Partners Melbourne has appointed two long-term employees as additional partners within the firm’s corporate finance team.
Liesl Malcolm and Stephen Craig were made partners after working at Pitcher Partners for 15 and seven years respectively.
Managing partner of Pitcher Partners Melbourne, Brendan Britten, said the firm was able to promote internally thanks to the pleasing progress of staff.
“By investing in and developing talented people we are able to continually grow the value we can offer our clients, who are the engine room of the Australian economy,” said Mr Britten.
“Liesl and Stephen’s commitment to understanding our clients upholds our reputation for providing excellent commercial acumen and technical expertise.
“They will each bring their unique skills and understanding of the middle market to our partnership, as well as the leadership they have shown in helping to grow our corporate finance practice.”
The firm said that Ms Malcolm brought experience in valuations, litigation matters, financial reporting purposes and tax restructures to the role.
Having joined Pitcher Partners’ corporate finance team in 2007, she also had expertise in pre and post-deal valuation support and employee equity valuations for accounting purposes.
“The skills that my clients value are technical knowledge, commercial solutions, independence and providing reports that simplify complex issues in a clear, easy-to-read manner,” said Ms Malcolm.
“Making business personal means taking the time to get to know a client and really understand their business.
“Listening to their views and opinions allows me to put myself in their shoes.”
The firm said Mr Craig had experience as a corporate finance practitioner after previously working in a boutique advisory.
Pitcher Partners said that Mr Craig had progressed quickly since joining the firm in 2015 thanks to his dedication to clients and success in deal-making.
“Pitcher Partners has a strong reputation within the deal-making market and I’m pleased to be appointed partner and embrace the terrific opportunity for me to grow my career in this practice,” he said.
The firm said that Mr Craig had expertise on both the buy and sell sides of mergers and acquisitions, and aimed to acquire a clear grasp of his client’s requirements to help provide a positive outcome.
“I’m always trying to understand the client’s broader goals, which only comes from working alongside them, rather than for them,” he said.
“To be entrusted to deal with what is often the life’s work of a client is a great responsibility, so it’s important to not only focus on the outcome, but to provide guidance and support throughout the entire transaction.”
Pitcher Partners is an association of independent accounting and business advisory firms located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth and Sydney.
