Pitcher Partners Perth has promoted firm loyalist Ben Macpherson to executive director in the firm’s taxation team after having joined as a graduate over a decade ago.
Managing partner of Pitcher Partners Perth Leon Mok said the advancement was well earned.
“Ben’s promotion is richly deserved, he is still just 32 but demonstrates an exceptional depth of knowledge around tax advisory, which is highly valued by clients,” said Mr Mok.
“I have watched his development from a graduate to expertly handling complex tax issues for clients across a wide range of sectors, but in particular mining and resources.”
“Ben has also evolved as a leader within the firm, developing his team and sharing knowledge, which has contributed greatly to Pitcher Partners’ stability and growth.”
Mr Macpherson first joined the firm when he completed two weeks of vacation work in 2011. He spent the first week in the insolvency practice and then shadowed the tax team in the second week, where he has remained since rejoining.
He returned to Pitcher Partners Perth full-time 12 months later as a graduate after completing a bachelor of commerce at Curtin University.
Mr Macpherson said the quality of the people at the firm was the primary reason behind his loyalty to Pitcher Partners Perth.
“Leon has probably been the biggest influence on my career at Pitcher Partners, having been an exceptional mentor since I started over 10 years ago,” said Mr Macpherson.
“There’s no doubt the high calibre of people I work with have contributed to the making of an exceptional culture and I’ve never really considered moving to another firm. Of the graduate group of five I was part of in 2011, three are still here and in an industry where there can be high employee turnover I think that speaks volumes.”
“Going forward, I’m excited to continue to grow the firm, in particular our emerging deal advisory and tax consulting offerings.”
Pitcher Partners Perth said Mr Macpherson had expertise across several industries and sectors with a specialist understanding of resources and issues affecting exploration and production companies.
He had also advised on taxation issues affecting corporate and multinational clients with international experience including North America, the UK, Asia, and West Africa.
