William Buck has rapidly promoted Ross Burt to director of audit and assurance just a few months after he joined from EY.
The firm said the audit specialist would help the Victorian team boost its capabilities in a complex area during “challenging times”.
Nicholas Benbow, head of audit at William Buck Victoria, said Mr Burt’s promotion recognised his strong relationship-based approach to clients and technical excellence.
“Driven by a desire to be considered a trusted adviser to his clients, Ross’s pragmatic approach and objectivity enable him to find solutions to even the most difficult of dilemmas,” he said.
“Ross’s expertise has been sought by multinational groups across the ASX due in part to his ability to work across complex environments. We are honoured to welcome him to his new leadership position as director.”
Managing director of William Buck Victoria, Lindsay Holloway, said Mr Burt had established himself quickly at the firm.
“Ross came to us from EY only nine months ago,” he said.
“His rapid advancement is testament to the firm’s commitment to hire from within where possible and develop our people to their full potential.
“Ross’s promotion will further support sustainability and succession within the firm as he builds his own team of emerging leaders.”
The firm said Mr Burt brought 20 years of audit and financial reporting experience predominantly at the big four, spanning several industry sectors and various reporting GAAPs.
His appointment takes the total number of Victorian-based directors at William Buck to 27, within a strong local team of over 200 professionals.
