Mazars has bolstered its ESG and sustainability offerings with the appointment of former EY and KPMG employee Damien Lambert as head of sustainability services in Melbourne.
Mazar’s Melbourne managing partner Richard DeBono said the practice is pleased Mr Lambert is joining the firm.
“We are delighted to have Damien join the firm and lead our sustainability division,” said Mr DeBono.
“Damien brings a unique skill set of both practical and academic experience focused on ESG issues which will provide our clients with a valuable resource to not only maintain and improve their market position but ensure their businesses are fit for the future.”
Mr Lambert’s practical experience includes two decades of working in accounting and ESG practices which involved six years of assurance work at EY and KPMG in Europe, Switzerland and Luxembourg respectively.
The firm said Mr Lambert also brings over 11 years of research and lecturing experience at tertiary education institutes, most recently at Monash University in Melbourne, where his research focused on examining non-financial reporting and ESG matters such as water and wastewater, community engagement, corporate governance mechanisms and shareholder activism.
Mr Lambert said he is excited by the position and the opportunity to assist the firm’s clients in understanding and improving their ESG position.
“As sustainability increasingly becomes a key priority for businesses and stakeholders, I’m looking forward to leveraging my diverse ESG expertise and financial skills to support clients in their transformative and compliance journey,” said Mr Lambert.
Mazars said along with his chartered accounting certification Mr Lambert also has an MBA as well as a PhD in accounting from ESSEC business school in France and has authored and co-authored governance and auditing publications.
Mr Lambert is the second hire with a French connection at the firm this year following the transfer of international advisory partner Maximilien Amphoux from Paris in February.
Mazars is an internationally integrated partnership that specialises in audit, accountancy, advisory, tax and legal services operating in over 90 countries and territories globally with the expertise of more than 44,000 professionals.
