Business coaching firm Slipstream has recruited an experienced financial planner to join its team of financial services experts.

It said Nina Forbes has over 30 years of industry experience and would work as a coach to guide other financial planners and accountants on their business needs and objectives.

Previously, Ms Forbes had held roles at the Financial Planning Association and served as the head of financial planner Whittaker Macnaught and head of financial advice for accounting firm Crowe Horwath’s Queensland office.

Ms Forbes also has entrepreneurial and leadership experience from founding her own financial services business and an industry support group called Women in Finance.

Her appointment comes as Slipstream strives to expand its coaching roster to meet increasing demand.

CEO Sharon McClafferty said Slipstream has “experienced good growth every year and is really particular about putting the right client with the right coach”.

She said Ms Forbes would improve the the boutique firm’s position in the coaching market.

“We are thrilled to welcome Nina Forbes to our team,” Ms McClafferty said. “She's a really impressive business leader — as soon as I met her, that was evident.”

“[Her] ability to distil complexities into a clear strategic plan, and her astute insight and years of experience make her opinions on the next steps in business invaluable.”

Ms McClafferty said Ms Forbes’s status as a female leader in a traditionally male-dominated space is also significant for Slipstream and its clients.

“Our pipeline of coaches is, if I'm honest, 98 per cent male. And I am not willing to remove the requirements of a coach to fix that situation. But I am absolutely thrilled that one of the women who have been a leader in this industry for the last 30 years still wants to give back.”

Ms Forbes said she was excited at the prospect of joining Slipstream’s team of seven coaches among its 17 staff.

“It is a great opportunity to join a company that is dedicated to empowering high-calibre clients,” she said.

“I look forward to helping a diverse range of clients achieve their personal and professional goals within their businesses.”
