The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) has appointed Taryn Rulton as its new deputy president.
CA ANZ welcomed Rulton's appointment to the federation and was proud that she was the second Australian woman to take on an IFAC board leadership position.
Rulton’s appointment followed the footsteps of CA ANZ past president Rachel Grimes, who rose from IFAC deputy president to president in 2016.
CA ANZ CEO Ainslie van Onselen said Rulton was an outstanding and highly experienced choice for the IFAC deputy president role.
“Taryn’s tireless advocacy for accounting and its ethics and her strong interest in AI and its impacts will serve the global profession well,” she said.
“Ms Rulton’s appointment is another example of Australians and New Zealanders being both well respected and represented in the profession’s global standard-setting ecosystem.”
According to CA ANZ, Rulton has 30 years of experience in finance, public sector, and not-for-profit entities.
Rulton also holds the roles of chief commercial officer at La Trobe University in Melbourne, non-executive director and audit committee chair at Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network and is a national disability and children’s services provider.
Rulton’s service to the profession resulted in her receiving the CA ANZ Meritorious Service Award last year and landed her multiple roles and positions on various industry panels and councils.
Van Onselen said Rulton had served on the Australian Accounting Standards Board, was chair of CA ANZ’s Victorian Council, had an active role in the CA Advisory Group as well as being part of the Victorian Public Sector Panel.
In addition to Rulton’s appointment, van Onselen said CA ANZ also wanted to acknowledge former CA CEO Lee White’s appointment as IFAC CEO in March this year.
“In addition to Taryn’s and Lee’s appointments at IFAC, we are proud that all the Australians or New Zealanders now sitting on the boards of the International Audit and Assurance Standards Board, the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, the International Sustainability Standards Board, the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board and the International Accounting Standards Board are CA ANZ members,” van Onselen said.
