BDO Australia has welcomed four new partners to the Sydney office as it continues its commitment to growing its network.

The newly appointed partners, Charlie Puddicombe (risk advisory services), Bianca Buckman (audit and assurance), Paul Childers (deal advisory) and Ravi Amirthalingam (corporate tax) were set to begin in their new positions with staggered starts from February to 17 March.

Puddicombe began in the new partner role in February and was specialised in a suite of governance, risk, and control services, including internal audit services, training, workshops, regulatory compliance, conformance with standards, remediation initiatives and project assurance, BDO said.

Buckman, who stepped into the role on 1 March, had over 25 years’ experience providing assurance and advisory services across Australia and the UK in the financial services, real estate and asset management industries, including listed, unlisted, multinational and local organisations with diverse funding structures.

BDO NSW managing partner Grant Saxon said the appointments reflected the firm's “strong market position” and the calibre and breadth of talent looking to join BDO.

“We are pleased to welcome Charlie, Biance, Paul and Ravi to the BDO partnership as we continue to grow our market share off the back of strong demand,” Saxon said.

“Our clients and the market more generally see BDO as having the culture, capability and expertise to help them navigate in times of significant uncertainty. This in turn is helping us to attract some exceptional talent to join our already strong partner group.”

Childers, joining the partner team in deal advisory, joined on 3 March and has more than 30 years of experience, 25 of those in mid-market M&As.

BDO said Childers specialised in buy-side and sell-side M&A advisory services, delivering professional and tailored sale outcomes focused on shareholders’ transaction objectives.

Also joining the firm on 17 March in corporate tax was Amirthalingam, who was specialised in providing tax advice to clients in professional services, infrastructure and general corporates.

Amirthalingam would also bring over 20 years of experience in corporate tax compliance, tax advisory, tax due diligence in M&A transactions, and tax management to the firm and partnership team.

BDO said the appointment of the five new Sydney partners followed a “strong start” to the year for the firm after 13 new partner promotions and five new partner hires were announced at the beginning of 2025.
