The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) has appointed Amanda Gascoigne, founder of Amanda Gascoigne Consulting and The Balanced Firm, as the latest member of its board.

She will work alongside other industry leaders to provide strategic oversight and governance in accordance with the Tax Agent Services Act (TASA) and the TPB’s Corporate Plan.

Gascoigne has had an extensive 30-year career in the accounting profession, including 18 years as a successful regional accounting practice owner.

She has also dedicated her career to supporting small and medium-sized businesses through her role as a consultant and business coach.

Throughout her career, Gascoigne has guided practitioners through a raft of major industry changes, including the introduction of the Tax Agent Services Regime in 2010, Single Touch Payroll and the latest TASA changes.

She has also held roles as part of the ATO's GST Stewardship Group and Single Touch Payroll Readiness Working Group, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand's Trans-Tasman Public Practice Advisory Committee and the CA ANZ NSW Public Practice Panel.

Through many of these roles, Gascoigne said she has gained "first-hand insight into both the challenges and opportunities tax practitioners face".

Gascoigne said she was honoured to have been appointed as a board member of the TPB.

"I am deeply committed to this role and look forward to contributing my expertise and insights to ensure the TPB remains an effective, fair, and forward-thinking regulator," she said.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey - this is not just a career milestone, but a meaningful opportunity to continue making a difference in a profession I am truly passionate about."
