Regional firm strengthens with new appointment

One NSW-based regional firm has announced that is has snared the services of a former Deloitte partner, as it looks to continue its expansion.

Michael Kennedy has been named strategic business adviser at the Bathurst office of Morse Group Accountants and Advisors.

Mr Kennedy, a founder and long-time partner at Darcy Kennedy in Dubbo, has held numerous positions throughout the state, including regional managing principal at WHK in central western NSW and partner at Macquarie Partners in Sydney, before most recently retiring as a partner at Deloitte Private in Norwest.

Mr Kennedy has also held several non-executive director positions with Advance Energy and Catholic Healthcare, and has served on the campus advisory committee for Charles Sturt University in Dubbo.

“Michael has a wealth of experience as a strategic client adviser and as a leader and practice principal of a multi-office accounting firm,” said Justin Enright, managing partner of Morse Group.

“He has over 45 years’ experience in regional and rural as well as metropolitan accounting firms, and is very knowledgeable in business advisory issues,” Mr Enright added.

According to Morse Group, Mr Kennedy’s areas of expertise are business structure, superannuation tax and regulation laws, self-managed superannuation funds, retirement planning, business and personal taxation.

The regional firm hopes to utilise Mr Kennedy’s strong interest in regional and rural issues, small business growth strategies, real estate development and financial strategy for SMSFs.
