This year, Thomson Reuters will be partnering with Accountants Daily to deliver the 2017 Australian Accounting Awards, which is set to garner a record number of submissions and finalists.
Managing director for Thomson Reuters Australia and New Zealand Ben Scull said the company is pleased to be supporting an initiative which recognises the hard work of the accounting community in Australia.
“For winners and finalists, it definitely distinguishes them, and more importantly, demonstrates to themselves that their ability has not gone unnoticed,” Mr Scull said.
Mr Scull also touched on the evolving role of accounting professionals, and their ever-important presence in the business community.
“Accountants, and the role of an accountant, have changed. Business now identifies the value they deliver more than ever, and therefore, programs like the Australian Accounting Awards can formalise this recognition,” he said.
Head of partnerships at Accountants Daily Terry Braithwaite said Thomson Reuter’s partnership with the Australian Accounting Awards demonstrates their commitment to recognising the hardworking accounting professionals across Australia.
“We’re thrilled to have Thomson Reuters onboard this year, for what is set to be a fantastic year for the Australian Accounting Awards, and a stellar event in May,” Mr Braithwaite said.
Submissions to the Australian Accounting Awards close this Friday, 10 March. Accountants Daily encourages you to send your submissions in as soon as you can to give yourself the best chance to secure your finalists' place.
The awards program this year has been significantly broadened to include the diverse range of professionals that make up the Australian accounting industry.
“This awards program is about recognising a true cross section of the talent in the Australian accounting industry,” said Mr Braithwaite.
“Everyone from administrative staff, to students, to partners, to senior management are catered for,” he said.
This year will see the return of popular categories, such as rising star of the year, new firm and new partner of the year, and executive of the year for firms with less than $1 billion in revenue.
Community engagement program of the year, another crowd favourite, also recognises those accountants who play a vital role with both their clients and their local community.
