Heffron SMSF Solutions announced yesterday that it acquired the Queensland-based McPherson Super Consulting, which provides superannuation education, advice and administration.
Contracts were signed yesterday, and managing director Martin Heffron, said the McPherson team - including directors Lyn Formica and Allan McPherson - will be joining Heffron SMSF Solutions.
The newly formed team will report to Heffron's head of customer, Meg Heffron, who is an actuary and sits on various consultative committees to the ATO. She was also a panellist to the 2010 Cooper Review into Australia's superannuation system.
"McPherson's philosophy and culture are very aligned to our own and the addition of this high-quality team to our organisation will only enhance the strong technical team we already have and add material capacity to that team," said Mr Heffron.
Recently, former ATO executive Stuart Forsyth departed his role of director at McPherson. He will retain his position on the board at AMP's SMSF arm, SuperConcepts.
“I don’t really have a destination. I’m talking to a few people about what I’m going to do next. I’m going to take a holiday and retain my SuperConcepts role,” Mr Forsyth said.
