KPMG’s Victoria office has farewelled long-standing chair Rob Bazzani and is looking to a new style of leadership with the appointment of audit partner Carmel Mortell.
KPMG eyes ‘fresh approach’ with new Victoria chair

Mr Bazzani, who was Victorian chair for seven of the 16 years he’s been with KPMG, handed over the reins to Ms Mortell on 1 September. He will continue his work with KPMG’s national enterprise practice and as a member of the firm’s national executive committee.
New chair Ms Mortell has spent her 28 years at KPMG in a mix of audit, risk and CFO advisory roles.
For KPMG chief executive Gary Wingrove, Ms Mortell’s appointment marks a “fresh approach” for the Victorian office.
Ms Mortell is a “vocal advocate” for diversity and flexible working, according to a statement from KPMG.
“Since starting her family more than 10 years ago, she has worked successfully on a flexible workplace arrangement. Carmel is also passionate about enhancing the experience of all partners and staff,” KPMG said.
