For BDO’s integration plan leader and partner, Tony Schiffmann, the growth “is testament to our investment in the development of our people” and comes at a time when he said there is much to be celebrated across the firm.
“Our focus on our people is at the heart of our growth strategy, and this is proving to be very successful,” he commented.
The new appointment announcement comes amid an expectation that 2020 “will be an exciting year” for BDO with continued revenue growth and a merger of its Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices.
Mr Schiffmann said this will create “new opportunities for BDO to win high-calibre work that has traditionally sat within the domain of the big four”.
Among the promotions, three internal elevations have seen employees lifted to the position of audit partner.
In Sydney, Geoff Rooney has been promoted to audit partner after joining BDO as an associate director in 2018.
Mr Rooney has managed multiple large and small audits and advisory engagements across various sectors, particularly focused on financial services and retail.
In Melbourne, a promotion has seen Kathy Robertson also elevated to the position of audit partner.
According to BDO, Ms Robertson has more than 12 years of experience in industries including natural resources, manufacturing and distribution, and financial services.
Perth’s newest audit partner is Ashleigh Woodley. Her new title sees her drawing on her local and international market experience, having worked with a diverse group of large and medium-sized public and private organisations across a range of industries.
BDO’s Brisbane office is also welcoming two appointments to the partnership from the position of associate director, with Andrew Jones gaining the title of tax partner while Joubert Breet will take the reins as a risk advisory partner.
Mr Jones is recognised by BDO as bringing with him extensive experience in providing tax solutions and advice to large corporate, international and government clients, while Mr Breet has 20 years of experience in contract and procurement assurance and advisory services across private and public sectors.
Commenting on the promotions, Mr Schiffmann said the newly appointed partners “have all achieved exceptional client service while working hard to develop the highest-performing teams and create business efficiencies, establishing BDO Australia as a leader in its chosen markets”.
