KPMG has acquired the business of Action Sustainability Asia Pacific, a consultancy firm that specialises in social and environmental sustainability advisory services.
The acquisition is set to expand KPMG Banarra’s and KPMG’s sustainability service’s provision of specialist advice in business risk management, responsible sourcing, finance, sustainability, human rights, ESG management and modern slavery services.
The acquisition will see the Action Sustainability Asia Pacific team relocate to KPMG’s Barangaroo premises this month.
KPMG Australia chief executive Gary Wingrove, who did not disclose terms of the deal, said it builds on KPMG’s acquisition of human rights consultancy Banarra.
“Action Sustainability Asia Pacific’s social and environmental expertise complements and expands our existing human rights, social impact and sustainability capabilities,” Mr Wingrove said.
“KPMG continues to invest in supporting our clients to understand and respond to the key issues which will fundamentally shape and impact our shared future.”
KPMG Banarra global head of human rights services Richard Boele said Action Sustainability Asia Pacific brings great depth and complement KPMG’s existing services.
“It’s a great match for us to grow the impact we can have with our clients on societal and global challenges,” Mr Boele said.
Action Sustainability Asia Pacific co-founder and managing director Mark Lyster said the firm is excited to be joining KPMG.
“It’s very aligned with our purpose of inspiring sustainable business, broadens our service offering to our clients and creates the opportunity for us to have greater impact at scale,” Mr Lyster said.
