Founded in 1999, Paxton Partners specialises in financial and operational performance improvement, program and service evaluation, clinical, digital, business and management advisory services to clients in the health sector, and increasingly to operators in human services and education.
The 13-strong team, led by Julian Maiolo, Sean Chung and Rob Gilbert, will continue to be based in Melbourne, with Mr Maiolo and Mr Chung to become Deloitte Consulting partners.
Ellen Derrick, Deloitte Consulting managing partner, said Paxton Partners was a natural fit for the firm as it looks to tap into consulting opportunities in the health sector.
“The health sector is facing increasingly complex demands, particularly in the face of funding constraints, with incredible opportunities to leverage technology and new service models to transform delivery of care,” said Ms Derrick.
“Deloitte is the market leader in professional services in this space, and the specialist skills of the Paxton Partners team will further enhance the capability available to state and federal health departments, other funders, insurers, sector operators, public health services, not-for-profit health providers, private hospital groups and investors.”
Mr Maiolo said the deal would build on its long-standing reputation and widen its reach in the health sector.
“This is a momentous decision for Paxton Partners, one that we are confident extends our capability and scale to complement our already long-standing reputation and deep experience to the Australian healthcare sector,” he said.
“Even before we’ve commenced with Deloitte, we’ve already had a great appreciation of where our collective experience will provide a unique mix of strategic, operational and financial expertise to the Australian and Asia-Pacific region.”
