Intuit QuickBooks and Accountants Daily have joined forces to recognise the herculean efforts accountants and bookkeepers are currently making to help their clients through the difficult COVID period.
Providing invaluable support
Accountants and bookkeepers are doing a lot of heavy lifting supporting their clients through the challenges of COVID. So to recognise their efforts, Intuit QuickBooks has put together a generous $10,000 prize pack to recognise their efforts. You can enter here.
It will come as no surprise that accountants and bookkeepers are the backbone of the small business community. They are presently helping their clients navigate a range of COVID support packages Such as the $1,500 fortnightly COVID-19 Micro Business Grant scheme. This is for businesses with annual turnover of between $30,000 and $75,000 whose revenue has dropped by 30 per cent or more since the start of the latest lockdowns. Larger businesses, sole traders and not-for-profit organisations can apply for one-off grants of up to $15,000 under the 2021 COVID-19 Business Grant Scheme.
JobSaver is another scheme accountants are helping their clients to access. This is keeping people who are employed by COVID-impacted businesses in their jobs. Additionally, businesses with annual revenue of up to $10 million, whose revenue has dropped by 30 per cent or more since the start of the latest lockdown, may be able to defer payroll tax payments until 7 October 2021. Affected businesses can also request to enter into a 12-month, interest-free payment plan to pay back any deferred payroll tax.
SMBs rely on their advisors for support
Intuit QuickBooks’ recent research demonstrates the critical role accountants and bookkeepers are playing. According to our Advocating for Advisors research report, 57 percent of small businesses say they would have struggled to keep going without the support of their advisors over the past year.
The research also shows how reliant small businesses are on their accountants and bookkeepers for help with their business strategy and cash flow and, of course, assistance accessing the government stimulus programs to which they are entitled.
“Small businesses need support like never before and they are turning to their accountant or bookkeeper to navigate this really tough time,” says Intuit QuickBooks’ head of advisor strategy, Meagan Wood.
