Thornbury-based Jim (Dimitrios) Bakos pleaded guilty to making a false or misleading statement to ASIC in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this month, seeing him automatically disqualified from managing corporations until 24 January 2027.
The matter stemmed after Mr Bakos was found to have lodged a form to deregister a company known as VFD Pty Ltd ACN 105 333 579 (Deregistered) (“VFD”), declaring that it had no liabilities when in fact at the time of lodging the form, VFD owed $11,106.19 to one of its former employees.
According to an ASIC statement, Mr Bakos made restitution to the former employee prior to sentencing, “which was taken into consideration” when the judge handed down her decision.
In addition to being disqualified from managing corporations for five years Mr Bakos was handed a $3,000 fine.
