The Melbourne-based multidisciplinary advisory company has appointed ex-Deloitte partner Jason Crawford and Rachel van Ketwich to help address the growing demand for grants and incentives advice.
BlueRock said the company has recently experienced substantial growth and has seen increasing demand for grants and incentives advice as Australian businesses continue to grow.
BlueRock’s executive managing partner of accounting Trevor Gordijn said the new directors will be valuable additions to the company.
“Rachel and Jason aren’t just incredibly experienced operators in the R&D and Government Incentive space, but they’re also fantastic leaders and great people,” he said.
“We’re delighted to bring directors of this calibre into our firm and we look forward to seeing them help our valued clients prosper through increased grant funding and tax incentive maximisation.”
Prior to joining BlueRock, Crawford was a partner at Deloitte and has run his own advisory company.
BlueRock said Crawford has over 28 years of experience and has also worked as a partner at mid-tier companies such as SWA and Moore Stephens, where he led R&D and tax incentive teams.
In these positions, Crawford advised some of Australia’s largest ASX-listed, privately owned companies, SMEs, and start-ups.
“With over 28 years in experience, Jason excels in leadership, strategy formulation and execution, operational excellence, team building, client management and service excellence, business development and new market segment identification,” BlueRock said.
According to BlueRock, Crawford will bring a broad range of industry expertise in manufacturing, engineering, construction, agribusiness, FMCG, IT, and the energy and resources sectors.
Van Ketwich is also set to join BlueRock as a director in R&D and government incentives.
Van Ketwich previously worked at EY and KPMG consulting on R&D tax and government incentives where she provided strategic trade and investment advice to globally expanding companies.
BlueRock said van Ketwich has “broad sector experience” as she has advised Australian start-ups, SMEs, universities, and public companies in the fields of sustainability, engineering, infrastructure, medical, and technology.
Prior to being appointed as a director at BlueRock, van Ketwich was head of R&D and grants at the advisory firm GrantReady.
BlueRock’s first director Tom Moore said the company is looking forward to welcoming Crawford and van Ketwich to the Melbourne HQ.
“They’re both incredibly experienced in the R&D space and will be excellent mentors to our consultants, not to mention an incredible boost for our existing clients,” he said.
“While we’re focusing on building our brand and client base in the New Zealand market, it’s fantastic that BlueRock is able to invest in these strategic appointments to cement our position as trusted and expert advisers in our hometown.”
The R&D and government incentive team are looking to build on successful partnerships and helping clients fund and grow their businesses through the R&D tax incentive and the ‘Export Market Development Grant’ (EMDG).
According to BlueRock, the focus of the new directors and the R&D and government incentives team is to prepare clients for the competitive EMDG program launching in November and continue helping entrepreneurial clients maximise their returns under Australia’s R&D tax incentive program.
