Winners revealed for Rising Stars Awards 2024

A total of 17 winners have been announced for the inaugural Rising Stars Awards 2024, hosted jointly by Accountants Daily and Accounting Times.

The new Rising Stars Awards 2024 culminated in a black-tie event tonight (Friday, 22 November 2024) at the Fullerton Hotel in Sydney to celebrate young accountants aged 35 or under driving innovation in the accounting industry. 

Run with support from principal partner Intuit QuickBooks, the awards program brings the accounting industry an unparalleled opportunity to showcase top-performing young accountants across Australia, setting the benchmark for emerging talent within the industry.

Winners were selected across 17 individual categories, including the coveted Excellence Award.

Categories included Accountant (Boutique Firm), Accounting Student, Bookkeeper, Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions, Specialist Consultant, and Tax and Compliance.

Tonight's winners showcase the depth of talent among the nation’s young guns and honour the recipients’ commitment and passion for accounting.

Some of tonight’s winners include Jack Staines of BMO Business Centre for Public Accountant, Fahad Gul of Tax App as Tech Innovator, Molly Lim of Above Advisory for Business Advisory, and Vishwas Singh of UNSW for Management.

Alyna Arago of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners was named the worthy winner of the coveted Excellence Award. She also took home the Accounting Student award earlier in the evening.

Winning a coveted Rising Stars award highlights the entrant's passion for accounting and showcases a commitment to personal advancement within the industry.

Members of the accounting industry gathered to celebrate the sector’s young guns and the breadth of talent among the nation's accounting professionals.

The gala ceremony also provided an opportunity for financial services professionals to network with experts and peers across the industry.

Accountants Daily editor Miranda Brownlee extended her congratulations to all winners and finalists this year.

“The outstanding submissions we’ve received demonstrate the exceptional talent rising through the ranks of the accounting industry,” Brownlee said. 

All submissions were evaluated by Momentum Media, Accountants Daily, Accounting Times and a panel of leading accounting professionals. A robust awards methodology was developed for the new Rising Stars Awards to form the backbone of assessing, analysing and benchmarking young accounting leaders.

The judging criteria for award categories were quantitative and qualitative, acknowledging growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence and contribution to Australia’s accounting sector.
