Walker Wayland partners with IP experts

Business

National accounting network Walker Wayland has announced it is expanding its offering into intellectual property (IP) services through a partnership with a specialist IP and commercialisation consultancy.

Walker Wayland has formed a strategic partnership with Invention Pathways, a Townsville-based consultancy operating across Australia and New Zealand.

Walker Wayland chairman John Dorazio said IP is an important area for many businesses and presents a opportunity for the firm to better serve their clients.

"Putting a dollar value on this is a specialist skill that we want to offer to our clients,” he said.

“Invention Pathways has combined a profound knowledge of IP with a high level of marketing and mentoring skills and so makes an ideal partner for us."

Invention Pathways director Peter Hone said the consultancy’s unique business model helps inventors every step of the way and their large network of contacts ensures the process has the highest possibility of success.

"We were looking at ways to expand the business around Australia," he said.

"Franchise was an option, but it is almost impossible to find the right fit for our kind of work. So we sought a partner. Walker Wayland offers an ideal relationship with network firms in all the mainland capitals and in many regional areas. They work with small to medium enterprises who are the people we can help most."

Mr Dorazio said Invention Pathways offers the firms in the Walker Wayland network a single source and a high success rate for clients with great new ideas.

"It also provides us with a powerful team who can help us to value clients' intellectual property and that can be a major asset to a business."

The arrangement is the latest in a series of strategic partnerships for Walker Wayland who last year partnered with online legal document provider Law Central, energy sustainability consultants Pangolin Associates, risk management consultants InConsult and market research firm IBISWorld.
