Troy Wilson recently joined the big four firm after 15 years at Grant Thornton, 11.5 of those as a partner.
Mr Wilson told AccountantsDaily that the opportunity to work with like-minded professionals in a team possessing a broad range of skills prompted the move.
“There is obviously the Deloitte Private Connect product but also a lot of people who can provide services in the IT space and digital space beyond the traditional accounting and tax platform,” he said.
“In particular, I believe the firm has invested quite heavily in people beyond the traditional accounting and tax services,” Mr Wilson said.
“My specialism is working with technology clients, so there’s a good fit or synergy there.”
Mr Wilson said that improving technology is creating an exciting time for the entire accounting and professional services profession right now, with Deloitte at the forefront of that development.
“There is a lot of disruption going on through the convergence between software and what the accountant is doing and Connect is certainly an example of that," he said.
"Deloitte Private Connect is a really good example of being able to work in real time and get the accounting and bookkeeping out of the way to have a more high-level discussion with the client about more relevant issues affecting their business."
