New Deloitte CEO names leadership team

Cindy Hook, Deloitte Australia’s recently-named chief executive, has announced the firm’s new executive committee.

Ms Hook said she has selected a cross-disciplinary leadership team designed to help the firm build on the recent momentum which has seen Deloitte become the second-largest professional services firm in the country.

“Our Deloitte Access Economics team, as well as our digital, data and design teams, are helping solve the increasingly complex problems facing organisations today. Our consulting capabilities combined with our core heritage skills in tax, audit and financial advisory are key differentiators for Deloitte and are supported by a culture which encourages innovation and diversity of thought.

“I am also proud of how highly regarded Deloitte Australia is within our global network for our growth, innovation and entrepreneurial culture.

“As CEO, I am excited to announce the appointment of a team of innovative thinkers with broad leadership experience. Deloitte’s talent pool is second to none and my new leadership team reflects this,” Ms Hook said.

David Hill has been promoted to chief operating officer (COO).

Adam Powick, previously managing partner, consulting, will head the firm’s Clients and Industries teams. He will be supported in this role by six industry leaders and the NSW and Victorian office managing partners.

John Meacock, former NSW office managing partner, becomes the firm’s chief strategy officer (CSO).

Iain Gerrard will continue in the role of chief financial officer (CFO).

Peter Forrester, currently managing partner, regional offices, who is responsible for Deloitte’s 14 regional offices, has also been appointed managing partner, middle market.

Andrew Griffiths will take on the newly-created role of chief risk officer (CRO) in line with Deloitte's global practice, and in recognition of the importance of building and protecting the firm’s brand and reputation.

Rob Hillard has been promoted from COO of consulting to managing partner, consulting.

Richard Deutsch, a recent high-profile lateral hire, replaces Ms Hook as managing partner, assurance and advisory.

Sneza Pelusi, senior Melbourne partner, replaces David Hill as managing partner, Deloitte Private.

Harvey Christophers and Paul Riley continue as managing partners for risk services and tax respectively. Ian Thatcher continues as managing partner, financial advisory services with added responsibility for Deloitte’s Asian strategy, leveraging his experience as Asia Pacific FAS leader.

All appointments are effective 1 February 2015.
