As part of the release, the user interface has been completely refreshed to radically simplify workflow and ease of use and an API service has been launched to allow third-party developers to link into Reckon One to offer their own applications.
Reckon One has also been upgraded to a new HTML 5 front-end to allow users to access the system on any device.
Sam Allert, managing director, business and accountants group, at Reckon said the update has been designed with the end-user experience squarely in mind.
“Our view is that it is a unique, simple to use, but a unique user experience in Reckon One,” he said.
“Most people don’t want to invest hundreds of hours trying to understand a very complex piece of software to do their accounts.
“They want to spend that time actually running their business. Reckon One is a game-changer in this respect because its software personalises itself to you, based on a few simple choices you make initially, allowing for a much easier and more pleasant user experience.”
Mr Allert told AccountantsDaily that Reckon is focused on delivering an easy to use but still affordable product to Australia’s SMEs.
“Based on all our research over time, these people have said ‘I use Excel because it's simple to use and it's cheap. I'm worried about having to pay for expensive accounting software’.”
“As a result, one of the things we are going strong on is affordability."
The update, announced at the Amazon Web Services Summit in Sydney yesterday, will be released in May or June of this year.
