John O’Donnell has been appointed the NSW office managing partner to lead the accounting and business advisory firm’s Sydney expansion.

Mr O’Donnell spent more than 30 years with KPMG, including his 17 years as partner.

More recently, at Grant Thornton he was partner in charge of the firm's privately held business practice, and also held the roles of managing partner and head of business development and marketing in Sydney.

Fordham's national managing partner, Pat Donato, said the firm's expansion into Sydney with the appointment of Mr O’Donnell would allow Fordham to provide a greater level of service to clients.

In addition, Mr O’Donnell was an ideal person to lead the growth of Fordham in Sydney, he said.

“The expansion of our business in Sydney and New South Wales is an exciting development in our history and for our growth agenda for Fordham and Perpetual Private - with John being well placed to lead this growth,” Mr Donato said.

Mr O’Donnell said he was looking forward to the new challenge and to increasing Fordham’s presence in Sydney.

“Fordham is a highly-respected business in Melbourne with an unparalleled reputation for helping private business owners with building, managing and protecting their business and wealth.

“There is a real opportunity for us to build on the great success of Fordham to date and to help business owners in New South Wales address their business issues together with assisting our clients with planning for their future financial success,” Mr Donato said.

In 2009, Fordham was purchased by investment services group Perpetual and has to date operated out of Melbourne.
