The app provides a paper-free log book option, allowing motorists to add their vehicle details, save their work trips and even include the number of kilometres completed per day.
The app then provides an Excel summary, emailed to the user on a monthly, weekly or daily basis, which can then be used in the preparation of their tax return.
The app also includes a tax refund calculator to estimate refunds based on the user's income and deductions, free tax tips and tax FAQs.
As well as recording motor vehicle use, the app can record work-related expenses to track and categorise deductible receipts and the business-related use of a person's home office, phone and internet.
H&R Block's director of tax communications, Mark Chapman, said the app will help taxpayers ensure they maximise their claims this financial year.
“To claim a tax deduction for work-related vehicle use, motorists are required to keep records of their private vehicle usage," he said.
"To maximise their claim if they travel over 5,000km per financial year, they need to keep a log book for at least 90 days This app can lift their chances for a greater deduction because it can accurately track their usage over an extended period of time, with little effort.
“The app is perfect for motorists who want to make it easier to keep the necessary tax records to maximise their claims for the use of their private cars or vehicles,” Mr Chapman said.
The app is available for download on iTunes and Google Play.
