Australian Accounting Awards to expand in 2015

Business

With submissions to the Australian Accounting Awards set to open on Monday, AccountantsDaily has unveiled a host of new categories for the 2015 event.

By Staff Reporter 10 minute read

Last year’s program offered 13 awards to leading firms and individuals. In response, AccountantsDaily was inundated with submissions throughout the nomination process and as such, the 2015 event has been expanded to offer 25 awards, covering all aspects of the profession.

Alex Whitlock, publisher of AccountantsDaily, said the Australian Accounting Awards have been developed to recognise excellence right across the accounting sector.

“The response to the Australian Accounting Awards was staggering last year. We were inundated with submissions and it was clear that there is great scope to expand the awards this year,” he said.

“This is a big industry; there are so many outstanding professionals and firms across the spectrum. It’s important that we host awards that recognise as many of the top performers as possible."

Sam Allert, managing director for Australia and New Zealand at Reckon, principal partner of the Australian Accounting Awards, said he is proud to support an initiative that celebrates the great work demonstrated across the entire sector.

“The strength of the profession lies in its diversity, with a range of individuals and companies contributing to its ongoing success. The depth of the 2015 Awards program is impressive and will uniquely recognise industry achievements.

“The Awards are extremely valuable and I would encourage individuals and firms to put themselves forward when nominations open [on Monday]. It provides them a rare opportunity to be recognised in a national accounting awards program, whether they be a newly qualified accountant, experienced bookkeeper or fast growing firm – there is an award category for them.”

Submissions for the Australian Accounting Awards open Monday 10 August 2015.
