Moore Stephens' independent member firm in Canberra, which comprises two directors and approximately 12 staff providing audit and assurance services, will leave the network, the firm said.
"We would like to thank the Moore Stephens Canberra practice for the contribution it has made to the network over the last several years," the firm's executive chairman, Don Boyd, stated.
The Canberra office's exit follows that, in May 2015, of the Sydney firm, which joined the Pitcher Partners network. Moore Stephens also lost its Melbourne office late last year, with the firm joining Chinese giant ShineWing.
However, the network has recently found a replacement firm in Melbourne as well as boosting its presence in Perth.
Mr Boyd said the network is committed to building its brand across the county, suggesting more deals may be on the horizon.
“As has previously been communicated, Moore Stephens Australia has set a very clear direction for the network over the next three years. A key pillar of that strategy is developing strength in all jurisdictions within which it operates, and providing a broad range of services to best support its local, national and international clientele,” he said.
“We therefore continue to assess opportunities to strengthen our network, as has been demonstrated by the merger undertaken with the UHY Perth practice earlier this year and the admission of the Nexia Melbourne practice into the network, which will take effect from 1 October this year.
“In assessing any opportunities, however, it is absolutely essential that any new member firms are committed to providing the highest quality of service to our clients and are aligned culturally and strategically with the rest the Australian network,” Mr Boyd said.
Moore Stephens International is one of the largest international accounting and consulting groups in the world, with its network comprising more than 626 offices in 103 countries and incorporating 27,000 professionals.
