New Zealand-based Information Management Services Limited (IMS) has become the third New Zealand payroll solutions company to join MYOB in the past 15 months, following the acquisitions of PayGlobal in August 2014, and Ace Payroll in May 2015, the firm said.
As a result of the acquisition, approximately 30 per cent of all New Zealand employees will now be paid by MYOB products, according to the cloud solution provider.
James Scollay, MYOB SME solutions general manager, noted that the presence in New Zealand would continue to expand the next generation of online payroll solutions.
Mr Scollay added that some of the functionality developed as part of these acquisitions would “be rolled out to Australia as well”.
A sole focus on Australia and New Zealand, Mr Scollay noted, has given MYOB the ability to invest “deep in these markets”.
“We really make sure we’re meeting the broad needs of the clients, not just taking a service approach – we’re going really deep into these markets,” he said.
“IMS customers will soon have access to MYOB’s full range of market-leading cloud solutions, including the next generation of online payroll, which is currently being developed following our announcement in May."
Mr Scollay did not rule out similar Australia-specific acquisitions in an attempt to further boost online solutions.
“Looking at acquisitions is part of our ongoing strategy; we’re always interested in looking at acquisitions that can add value to our core, both in Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
