Linda Wah will front the general manager role for Banks Group as of 16 November 2015. This role follows her previous roles at national mid-tier firms William Buck and Pitcher Partners.

Ms Wah, a chartered accountant, served as the William Buck general manager for a five-year period, and has also led the critical point network as a client relationship manager for Pitcher Partners.

Ms Wah stated that she was first introduced to Banks Group after forming a partnership with the firm via Pitcher Partners' critical point network.

“A critical point network is a very successful professional support network for accounting and legal practitioners in public practice,” she noted.

Eugene Smarrelli, director at Banks Group said that he “jumped on” the opportunity to hire Ms Wah, as her skillset and experience provides a “value-add” for the firm, granting the necessary tools for the firm to continue establishing a foothold in the Australasian network.

“Linda has already got experience in the way that the bigger boys do it, and I think that’ll help us to get our brand out more,” Mr Smarrelli said.

Mr Smarrelli continued, adding that the majority of operations handled by himself and fellow partners would be delegated to Ms Wah, allowing them to “step away and become a proper board, where we can set more policies that Linda is then able to administer for us”.

Ms Wah noted that her ultimate goal was to further position Banks Group as a modern and progressive firm, in keeping with the changes that have grasped the profession, namely cloud accounting and social media.

Ms Wah's hire follows the recent expansion of Banks Group into Perth, with fellow affiliate offices located in Sydney and Auckland.
