Brad Savage has joined the group in private advisory, after spending time at both PwC and MGI.
"We’re really excited to have Brad join us as we continue to strengthen our position as the growth adviser to mid-size business,” said Greg Keith, CEO of Grant Thornton Australia.
"We've had a number of exceptional partners join us this financial year. Brad brings with him a wealth of experience in helping mid-size privately owned businesses achieve their growth ambitions," he added.
Coming to Grant Thornton after 16 years with MGI and PwC, Mr Savage has substantial experience providing advice on all stages of the business lifecycle, working closely with privately owned businesses to deliver outcomes around growth and succession planning.
"For me, it’s all about helping privately owned businesses in the middle market excel," said Mr Savage.
"I’m looking forward to continuing to do this in an environment that fosters trusted relationships with its clients and its people. Grant Thornton is a clear leader in this space and I’m looking forward to being part of our clients’ growth journey."
My Savage is the firm's eighth lateral partner hire in the last 12 months with the firm clearly attempting to broaden its skill set through experienced hires.
Grant Thornton has also launched three new advisory service offerings this year to complement its existing services and meet the needs of its growing mid-size business clients.
"Mid-size businesses are telling us they are looking for holistic growth advice in a relatively flat market from advisers focused on range of strategic areas," said Mr Keith.
"As such, we’ve broadened our advisory services including Asia growth services, technology and leadership and culture.
"To bolster our existing and new services, we’ve also welcomed seven other new partners into our firm this financial year, most recently behind Brad was Steven Healy, private advisory partner in Brisbane, formerly head of the Tax Institute, joining us from Deloitte.
"Prior to that we welcomed Richard Gruppetta in Melbourne who joined us from PwC to lead our new Asia Practice, and Alex Bell in Sydney who joined us from Korda Mentha to complete our national forensic services offering."
In addition, the firm's Brisbane office also welcomed Harley Mitchell, John Dowell and Ian Brooks from Crowe Horwath late last year as well as Julie Smith from William Buck.
