The big four firm has hired Ashley Poke (Melbourne), Tiffany Barton (Melbourne), Cameron Whittfield (Melbourne), Damian McNair (Melbourne) and James Delesclefs (Sydney) as partners in its legal services team.

Mr Poke is a senior corporate lawyer with more than 20 years' experience as a partner in leading professional services firms, while Ms Barton is a senior corporate lawyer with experience in the areas of private and public mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and commercial contracts.

Mr Whittfield specialises in the areas of digital, telecommunications, media and technology law, while Mr McNair is widely recognised as a leading energy, mining and resources, telecommunications and transport lawyer for his work on major projects in Australia, Asia, Africa and the Middle East over the past 25 years.

Mr Delesclefs is a corporate lawyer who specialises in private equity, with extensive international and domestic experience having worked for over 13 years in practice across the UK, US and Australia.

PwC legal services leader Tony O’Malley said that through maximising the range of capabilities across the firm, PwC is now well positioned to help clients solve their most complex problems.

"We know that we have a compelling proposition for the market, our clients, and for staff," Mr O'Malley said.

"In today’s competitive legal market, clients see technical excellence as simply a 'ticket to ride'. What sets us apart is our ability to seamlessly integrate legal services across a range of commercial disciplines and bring together strong client and industry insights," he said.

"We also think differently about legal services, which creates huge potential for our clients and is also a very attractive proposition for many experienced lawyers who are looking to integrate what they do with PwC's deals, infrastructure, tax and consulting service offerings.

"We’ve been growing our team for 18 months and we’re building a stronger footprint in Melbourne. The time is certainly right to invest in top-tier legal talent to help serve the market’s increasing appetite for end to end solutions," Mr O'Malley said.

The partners have been joined by a range of other recent senior level hires, including:
• Michael O’Neill, director specialising in M&A;
• Charlie Grover, director specialising in energy, projects and infrastructure;
• Anne Ellison, director specialising in real estate;
• Suzanne Mathews, director specialising in energy, projects and infrastructure;
• Samantha James, director specialising in corporate and commercial.
