Amanda Kenafake of Power Tynan, the winner of last year’s Excellence Award, revealed to AccountantsDaily that winning the award was a humbling and exciting experience, which has meant recognition for her hard work and a boost in her confidence.

Ms Kenafake said the recognition of her hard work as an accountant has empowered her to make further improvements to her business, expand the number of services her firm offers and commit to her goals.

“Winning the award has given me the confidence that I didn’t have before in what I’m doing and what I’m try to achieve,” she said.

“I’m now helping businesses to improve and increase efficiency within the business advisory space. We’re also helping other accounting firms to set their strategy right and assist them with getting the software to achieve certain measures.”

Winning the award, she says, has also helped her open doors and further expand her network, and encouraged her to commit to further education.

Ms Kenafake says it has been a highly worthwhile experience, and she encourages all accountants thinking about entering the awards to send their submissions in now.

“There are a lot of accountants out there doing a lot of good work that people just don’t see, so I think it’s a really good recognition for the industry to have people applying and getting out there,” she said.
