Speaking to AccountantsDaily, MGI director of management consulting and business services Grant Field said MGI has already been in discussions with a number of firms and will continue that process over the next 12 to 18 months.
“MGI is looking to double the size of the group over the next three years. We are focused on increased representation in major provincial cities around Australia and New Zealand,” said Mr Field.
Within New Zealand, he said, MGI is currently looking at firms in major cities such as Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
As part of its expansion plans, Mr Field said MGI will also be launching leadership development courses for its new member firms.
“We will run a number of leadership development courses at an Australasia level, and have people from all over Australasia attend,” he said.
“Some of the feedback we get from new member firms is that they’re looking to share best practice in a non-competing environment, with their peers.”
Mr Field said it is often difficult for smaller firms to do this on their own, but as part of a larger network they are able to contribute more time and effort into developing and training their employees.
“We want to provide an opportunity for member firms to share best practice within other member firms, so sharing resources basically,” he said.
