Melbourne arm of national network defects to mid-tier

Business

A second tier chartered accounting firm has merged with a Melbourne firm, citing the desire to offer a greater range of accounting and advisory services in the CBD as the reason for the move.

Hall Chadwick partner Drew Townsend yesterday announced that the Melbourne arm of Sothertons will join the Hall Chadwick Group.

The merger will boost Hall Chadwick’s presence in Melbourne and extend its range of accounting specialty services on offer.

“The combined accounting and advisory service offerings will provide clients with broader access to multi-disciplined expertise across greater range of industries and sectors,” Mr Townsend said.

“In addition to accounting compliance services, the Sothertons Melbourne team brings specialists in forensic, tax advocacy, international business advisory, back office and superannuation services into the fold.”

The combined team will come together in mid-April in a new CBD location at Level 14, 440 Collins Street, Melbourne.

“We have enjoyed a successful association with the National Sothertons Group for twelve years,” Sothertons Melbourne director David Lissauer said.

“The merger with Hall Chadwick moves our team into the second tier of chartered accounting firms and a shift from our St Kilda Road location into Melbourne CBD. It will allow us to be within closer proximity of our growing number of CBD-based clients, other professional services providers and law courts.”
