‘Changing the Game’ report
How Australian accounting firms are leaning into tech and winning the war for talent, clients, and the future
In today’s rapidly changing landscape, technology plays a crucial role in the accounting profession. Intuit QuickBooks recently surveyed 724 Australian accounting professionals to explore the current state of their businesses, the profession, and the evolving needs of their clients.
Almost all respondents (99 per cent) have used AI to assist clients. Eighty per cent consider tech skills equally important as traditional accounting skills and outsourcing is seen as a strategic growth driver by 79 per cent of accountants, allowing firms to focus on high-value advisory services. While 97 per cent feel the pressure of inflation and interest rates, over 70 per cent believe tech can help navigate these challenges. Additionally, more than 90 per cent think tech can aid in attracting and retaining talent.
Specifically, this report offers insights and actionable strategies, including a case study on Spire Accounting, which significantly improved efficiency by reducing a compliance process from four hours to four minutes.
