IPA joins forces with bookkeeping association

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) has now joined the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) as part of the IPA Group.

The move builds on a previous service agreement between the two bodies as well as a relationship spanning close to two decades.
It is understood that the AAT Board approved the move in May, including the transfer of the assets and undertakings of the AAT to the IPA.
The AAT brand will continue to be preserved, with operational autonomy across both brands. AAT chief executive Rochelle Park will continue to lead the AAT as part of the IPA Group and will assume a role within the Group Executive team of the IPA.
The integration will see all AAT members automatically admitted to membership of the IPA Group at no cost as IPA (AAT) members, with AAT member fees to be frozen for at least 12 months.
In a message to AAT members, chair Daryl Koch and chief executive Ms Park noted that the move would “guarantee the future growth and success of AAT by both securing investment in much-needed infrastructure and providing the AAT with the critical mass required to better serve you our members”.
IPA chief executive Andrew Conway said the transition would solidify the long association with the AAT.
“This change will bring enhanced member benefits and support in line with global trends which demonstrate the importance of an inclusive and collaborative approach between accounting technicians and accountants, particularly in their support to the small-business sector,” Mr Conway said.
“Significant new benefits will be offered to technician members, including a comprehensive member pathway for student members seeking a career as either an accounting technician or a public accountant.”
