ATO to leave position vacant

Regulation

The ATO will leave the position of assistant deputy commissioner, superannuation, vacant "for the foreseeable future" in the wake of Stuart Forsyth’s departure.

Mr Forsyth left the ATO on Thursday 27 November, and is due to start in his role on the SuperIQ board today.

An ATO spokesperson has since confirmed to AccountantsDaily’s sister publication SMSF Adviser that the ATO will not be filling Mr Forsyth's role "for the foreseeable future".

However, the responsibilities of this position will be distributed amongst the superannuation leadership team, which includes the assistant commissioner, SMSF segment, superannuation, Matthew Bambrick and deputy commissioner, superannuation, Alison Lendon.

The ATO would not comment further on the nature of Mr Forsyth’s departure.

Mr Forsyth’s time at the ATO has been commended by Taxpayers Australia’s superannuation products and services manager, Reece Agland.

“Stuart was a great leader at the ATO and they will miss his expertise. Congratulations to Stuart Forsyth,” Mr Agland said on Twitter.
