Under the MoU, CPA Australia and accounting bodies within Taiwan will be able to provide further support and development in regards to training and professional development.
Taiwanese bodies referenced in the MoU include the National Federation of CPA Associations of the Republic of China (ROC); the Taiwan Provincial CPA Association; and the Kaohsiung CPA Association.
Jeff Hughes, COO of CPA Australia, and Charles Chen, chairman of the National Federation of CPA Associations of the ROC, were both present at the signing, with Mr Chen signing on behalf of all Taiwanese accounting bodies.
Mr Hughes praised the opportunity to further develop the relationships between accounting professionals of the two countries.
“Since 2013, Taiwan has adopted the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) to enable seamless integration with the international financial system,” he said.
“CPA Australia is looking forward to collaborating with Taiwan accounting bodies and supporting further training and talent development for accounting professionals in Taiwan,” Mr Hughes added.
Mr Chen echoed this sentiment, lauding the ability to increase the global competitiveness of Taiwanese accounting professionals.
“As Taiwan plays a more active role in the global economy, it will become increasingly important for accounting bodies in Taiwan to deeper their cooperation with global accounting bodies,” he said.
“I look forward to working with CPA Australia to advance the accounting profession in Taiwan and Australia."
