BDO has announced the appointment of Shayne Carter as a partner in the firm’s Sydney office today.
Mr Carter, who was previously a Deloitte principal in business tax, will join BDO’s team across the superannuation sector, including Mark Wilkinson, SMSFs, and Chris Balalovski, complex individual and corporate structures.
BDO Sydney manager partner Grant Saxon said Mr Carter’s hire would help bolster its financial service credentials through his expertise on publicly offered funds.
“Shayne’s extensive knowledge of superannuation and related products spans three decades and he can assist with the rationalisation of legacy products, which continues to have a big impact on the market,” said Mr Saxon.
“Shayne has advised publicly offered superannuation funds on issues such as the taxation treatment of superannuation funds/benefits (particularly defined benefit arrangements)/insurance (at a fund and life office level), pooled superannuation trusts and income streams.
“He has been closely involved with structuring publicly offered superannuation and related financial products.”
Mr Carter was also formerly a director at Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills for 20 years and lectures on superannuation at the University of Sydney Masters of Law and Masters of Taxation course.
“I’m delighted to be joining BDO as it grows its capabilities to service publicly offered superannuation, corporate and HNWI clients in the superannuation space,” added Mr Carter.
