McCullough Robertson Lawyers have announced the appointment of David Hughes and Melinda Peters as partners to its head office in Brisbane. The appointments will be effective from 1 November.
Mr Hughes is an accredited tax law specialist, one of only five in Queensland, who will leave his position as managing partner and founder of Small, Myers and Hughes Lawyers.
Mr Hughes’ focus is primarily on private clients and small-to-medium enterprises.
Ms Peters is currently a special counsel at McCullough Robertson, and is a specialist tax and duty lawyer, with a focus on corporate taxation, transaction structuring and tax controversy.
McCullough Robertson managing partner Kristen Podagiel said the appointment of Mr Hughes and Ms Peters signifies the growth and consolidation of McCullough Robertson’s tax team.
“David and Melinda join our market-leading tax team, complementing the practice of existing senior tax partners Duncan Bedford and Damien Clarke,” Ms Podagiel said.
“Both David and Melinda have proven track records and are tremendous additions to our partnership.”
Further, McCullough Robertson’s head of corporate and commercial Damien Clarke welcomed the appointments, noting their influential presence in the marketplace.
“David brings a depth of tax experience and has been recognised by Doyles Guide since 2015 as a Leading Tax Lawyer, as well as being named in Best Lawyers Australia for Tax Law,” Mr Clarke said.
“Melinda is recognised as a Tax Law Rising Star in Doyles Guide. Both have outstanding reputations in their field.”
