Alison Haines has now joined Johnson Winter & Slattery as a partner in its Melbourne office.
Ms Haines joins the firm from Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) where she was head of tax, bringing extensive experience across all areas of corporate taxation, particularly tax risk management and governance, strategic acquisitions and divestments, and transfer pricing.
She was involved in every major transaction involving CUB in the past 10 years, including the demerger of Treasury Wine Estates, the takeover of Foster’s by the SABMiller group, the combination of the AB InBev and SABMiller groups, and AB InBev’s recent sale of CUB.
The chartered accountant and former EY tax consultant’s appointment will now see Johnson Winter & Slattery offering clients an end-to-end tax service for their transactions, disputes and general business activities.
Johnson Winter & Slattery managing partner Peter Slattery said Ms Haines’ appointment was a major coup for the firm.
“Alison will broaden the diversity of skills within our tax practice and offer our clients the opportunity to engage a tax partner intimately acquainted with client perspectives, expectations and needs at a senior level,” Mr Slattery said.
“From a growth perspective, her experience as a corporate tax manager will enable us to expand our offering, particularly in the area of contentious tax matters. It gives us a unique position in the market, opening new doors and opportunities for the firm.”
