At the macro level, 2018 was a big year for MYOB, between its fallen deal with Reckon and now its directors’ push for a takeover by US private equity giant KKR.
General manager of product at MYOB, David Weickhardt, said it’s been business as usual for his team, who are focusing on 2019 being “the year of delivery.”
“It’ll be a big year with our partners, accountants and bookkeepers,” he told Accountants Daily.
“We are bringing the rest of our Practice Suite to life. Half of that is currently online, and 2019 is the year we deliver the remaining part of that to market.” he said.
New services related to corporate compliance and document management will also be launched this year.
MYOB is also continuing its charge towards cloud upgrades, with a vision for “complete replacement” of its Accountants Office and Accountants Enterprise desktop products.
“We imagine those products in the cloud,” Mr Weickhardt said.
“The desktop versions will be serviced and available, and we will continue to support them for the foreseeable future,” he said.
Although the vision is “online only,” Mr Weickhardt said accountants and bookkeepers won’t be forced into upgrading.
“We have moved away from big bang releases and forced migration,” he said.
MYOB will also continue allocating time and resources to its payroll products and will have an expanded focus on e-invoicing as it rolls out to industry.
