The accounting software provider has now updated its software to help businesses and advisers assess eligibility for relief, pay employees a wage subsidy and file reports to the Tax Office to coincide with JobKeeper enrolments opening.
One of the updates is an eligibility calculator designed to help businesses calculate changes in revenue over a chosen period of time to help them identify their eligibility for the JobKeeper payment scheme.
Xero’s payroll function has also been updated to help employers potentially identify which staff will be eligible for the JobKeeper wage subsidy.
The update will also see Xero Payroll process the payments received, record the amount paid to staff and submit the correct codes to the ATO.
Xero Australia managing director Trent Innes said small businesses need urgent help with government assistance as they struggle through the COVID-19 crisis.
“These new online features give employers and their advisers the tools to demonstrate eligibility and navigate the payroll processes that are necessary to receiving government aid,” Mr Innes said.
“Since legislation passed two weeks ago, our product teams have been working around the clock to ensure our customers could benefit from the new features when the JobKeeper program opened for applications.”
